Veteran Nollywood Actor Amaechi Muonagor Is Dead

NIGERIA: Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, has died at the age of 61 after a protracted battle with kidney disease.

Muonagor recently took to social media to solicit for fund to attend to his ailment, but he died before help could come his way.

Fans and well wishers of the actor have stormed social media to mourn his demise.

Muonagor’s death is coming at exactly 22 days after another Nollywood veteran, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu died.

Born on 20 August, 1962 the actor was nominated for the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best actor.

He joined the Nollywood in 1998 and had starred in many movies including Taboo 1 (1989), Aki and Pawpaw, Karishika (1998), and Aki na Ukwa (2002), Igodo (1999).

He attended St. Mary’s Primary School, Obosi, Oraifite Grammar School before he furthered his education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where he studied economics and graduated in 1987.

In 1989 after his youth service, Amaechi started working for the News Agency of Nigeria. He left his job a few years later for an acting role in his first movie as Akunatakasi in Taboo 1, a Nigerian movie.
