LPPC Elevates 62 Lawyers To Senior Advocate Of Nigeria

The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC), under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola,

has approved the elevation of 62 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate Nigeria, SAN.

LPPC approved their elevations on Thursday September, 29, 2022, at its 154th plenary session held in Abuja.

A statement signed by the Chief Registrar of Supreme Court Hajo,  Sa’ad Bello, stated that the 62 new SANs would be sworn in at a ceremony scheduled to take place on Monday, November 21, 2022.

The meeting further approved new guidelines for the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and all  matters pertaining to the rank to guide future exercises.

It explained that the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.

Among the 62 new SANs include: Wahabu Shittu, an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, private prosecutor and 52 other practicing lawyers and nine academia, mostly professors.
