An inquest has confirmed that Tabby Brown, the former girlfriend of Arsenal winger Raheem Sterling, passed away due to complications related to the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure she underwent in October 2023. The 38-year-old, who gained fame as a Playboy model, traveled to the Dominican Republic to enhance her appearance through liposuction and the BBL.
Shortly after returning to her home in South London, Tabby collapsed and tragically lost her life, with the inquest determining her cause of death to be a “fat embolism,” a recognized risk linked to such surgeries.
Her mother, Mahasin, found Tabby unresponsive on the floor on October 13. Investigation reports indicated that she had two puncture wounds on her pelvis, confirming her recent surgical procedure.
Renowned cosmetic surgeon Oliver Harley discussed the procedure and highlighted the severe risks associated with BBLs, including the potential for fat embolism. “The BBL procedure is known to pose risks of fat embolism and death; Tabby’s death was a consequence of this,” he stated during the inquest.
Prior to her collapse, Tabby, who had also dated former Manchester City player Mario Balotelli, experienced weakness, raising concerns within her family following her return from South America.
Coroner Julian Morris issued a narrative verdict, noting the tragedy of her passing, given her otherwise healthy lifestyle. In a heartfelt tribute, her family celebrated her vibrant life, recalling her warmth and infectious smile that charmed many. They expressed deep sorrow over her untimely death while cherishing their shared memories, saying, “Tabby had a big laugh, smile, and a personality that matched her beauty.”
This unfortunate incident underscores the necessity of being aware of the risks associated with cosmetic procedures such as Brazilian Butt Lifts, which, despite their rising popularity, can lead to serious complications, including fat embolism and infections.
Tabby Brown had a successful modeling career, featuring in prestigious publications like Cosmopolitan and Elle, and made appearances in reality television and music videos.
