Ibom Airline floated by Akwa Ibom State has procured two additional A320 aircrafts to boost its fleet, as part of efforts in enhancing effective service delivery and customer demands.
The additional Aircrafts, which will arrive this week at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, would also increase the number of Aircrafts by the Airline to nine.
Governor Udom Emmanuel disclosed this on Sunday, during a thanksgiving service to mark the 70th birthday of the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, captain Mfon Udom, held at United Evangelical Church, founded as Qua Iboe Church, Asuna, in Etinan Local Government Area of the state.
Emmanuel thanked God for the health of Captain Udom at 70, describing him as a source of inspiration, exemplary leadership, great support and a pillar of encouragement to many as he has never been found wanting in his engagements with the state Airline.
He said these qualities have been demonstrated in the ability of Captain Mfon Udom’s mobilisation of friends and kins to raise a befitting building for the Qua Iboe Church in Surulere, Lagos, and facilitating the birth of Ibom Air for the state.
“I want to thank our close partner and brother who has also been so passionate towards the success of this airline.
“This week we would be receiving two A320 aircrafts so that we can prepare for Christmas and expect others that will be arriving from next year,” he said.
Governor Emmanuel, therefore, handed over a brand new Land Cruiser Toyota Jeep to the Ibom Air Managing Director as his birthday present.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, Captain Mfon Udom, recalled that in his 20s, he thought life was all about the youthful exuberance of those years, but getting to 40 was a new beginning that looked like all and reaching 70 has afforded him the privilege of enjoying the real essence of life.
He explained that he clocked 70 in January and expressed appreciation to God for taking him through his working years and appreciated governor Emmanuel for affording him the opportunity to manage Ibom Air which, he said, has added much joy and vigour to his retirement life.
Delivering a sermon on the theme, “Praises for Meeting our Needs”, extracting his text from Psalm 71:6-9, the Superintendency Pastor, Reverend Israel Udokpo, said that God loves a heart of gratitude and that it is important that his people acknowledge the Excellency of God’s power, His wonderful works and goodness, so as to praise him with understanding, adding that the more one occupies his mind with God’s goodness, the more he attracts them.
