…urges team not to be discouraged

ABUJA, Nigeria – Sports Consultant and Football Talent Identification Scout, Tosin Ojo has commended Nigeria’s U20 female national football team for sterling performance despite losing out of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women World Cup.
The Falconets of Nigeria were eliminated from the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after losing to Japan in the Round of 16 match. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Japan, with Miyu Matsunaga and Maya Hijikata scoring for Japan, and Olushola Shobowale scoring for Nigeria in added time.
He urged the Falconets of Nigeria not to be discouraged.
In a statement on Friday, Ojo charged the female national team saying “although the outcome of the match against Japan wasn’t what you had hoped for, your determination, skill, and teamwork were on full display throughout the tournament. Losing to a strong opponent like Japan doesn’t define your worth as a team or individual players.You’ve made Nigeria proud!
“Your participation in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup is a testament to your hard work and dedication to the sport. You’ve inspired countless young girls and women back home to take up the beautiful game, and your achievements will continue to motivate them to strive for excellence.”
The football enthusiast said the Falconers must have learnt their lessons at the tournament which he said should pave a way for growth and development in future competitions.

As the Nigeria U17 Women’s team prepares to take on the world’s best at the FIFA World Cup in the Dominican Republic, Ojo charged the coach of side, Bankole Olowookere to lead his team “
to an unforgettable victory. Your experience, tactical acumen, and ability to motivate your players will be crucial in achieving this goal.”
He said The Flamingos are capable of greatness!
