Shaibu said this during a visit to the Benin Technical College to ascertain the progress of work.
“The idea of the school, beyond training quality manpower, is also to make it best in class, not for the benefit of Edo people but for the entire country. We are creating a world standard technical college that will produce quality human capital for our state to become a centre of excellence. Graduates from the college will be in demand as a result of their expertise and thorough training,” he said.
He noted, “A lot of work has been done. From what I can see, the quality of the work is very impressive. This is just a fact finding mission and to ascertain that what is contained in the files I have been going through are actually obtainable on ground. This tour has given me the opportunity also to see other things that need to be done and the level of compliance in terms of the quality we want in the school.
“I am also being told now that we need to increase our security presence here. A lot of things are already in place here. We will need to beef up security so that when they are installed, these items will not be vandalised. I’m impressed so far and will do the needful to make sure that this project is completed in record time,” he added.
Representative of Kenol Nigeria Limited, Engr Ayegba Samuel, who conducted the acting governor on the inspection tour, said that the project is at an advanced stage.
“With additional security, within a month, we should be able to round up with what is left.”
