Dentist Dr. Akintunde Shot Dead In Milwaukee Over Loud Music

MILWAUKEE, USA – A dispute over loud music turned deadly on April 19 when 41-year-old Dr. Akintunde Bowden, a well-known Wisconsin dentist, was shot and killed by his neighbour, 27-year-old Keionna McGowan.

The incident occurred at McGowan’s apartment in northern Milwaukee. According to McGowan’s statement, Bowden knocked on her door and asked her to turn down her music. After initially agreeing to lower the volume, McGowan said the situation escalated when Bowden allegedly kicked her door. Fearing for her safety, McGowan grabbed a gun, opened the door, and fired at Bowden when he attempted to kick the door again.

McGowan was heard screaming for help outside the building when police arrived. Officers found Dr. Bowden lying in the doorway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed he died from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen.

McGowan was charged with second-degree reckless homicide with a dangerous weapon. She sobbed in court on Thursday, as her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 5.

Dr. Bowden’s colleagues and family have expressed grief over the loss of a dedicated professional. Milwaukee Health Services released a statement saying, “Dr. Bowden’s contributions to the health and well-being of our patients and community were extremely impactful.”

His brothers, both dentists, remembered him as a compassionate man who spent over a decade offering dental care to those who couldn’t afford it. His passing has left his community in mourning, with his family and colleagues recalling his commitment to helping others.
