Court Stalls Injunction Against Central Mosque’s Exco Without Proper Hearing

LAGOS, Nigeria
 – Justice Andrew Alagoa of the Federal High Court has refused to grant the Plaintiffs’ prayer for an injunction to restrain Alhaji Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy from parading himself as the Baba Adinni and Chairman, Executive Council of the Lagos Central Mosque without hearing the parties.

Consequently, Justice Alagoa adjourned the matter to Monday, the 3rd of March 2025, for hearing.

According to the General Secretary, ookman Seriki, the matter instituted by the purported trustees of the Mosque, Alhaji Femi Okunnu, and Chief Yemi Lawal, came up at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, on February 26, 2025.

Meanwhile, for peace and order to prevail in Lagos during the month of Ramadan, and since he was convinced that Ramadan Lecture was sacrosanct during Ramadan, Justice Alagoa granted the plea of the plaintiffs to allow the Chief Imam, Sheikh Sulaimon Abu-Nolla, to conduct his Ramadan Lecture.

It is pertinent to mention that the Mission Board, after consultations with the Baba Adinni, members of the Executive Council and some members of the Jamat, has decided to postpone this year’s Annual Ramadan Lecture indefinitely in order to ensure peace and avoid breakdown of law and order in the mosque.

Any further developments will be communicated as appropriate.
