Akpabio Names 50 APC, 18 PDP, 4 LP, 2 SDP Chairpersons In 74 Standing C’ttees

ABUJA, Nigeria – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), dominated the chairmanship of the 74 Senate Committees announced late Monday night by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

The APC clinched 50 committee chairmanship  seats, followed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has 18 chairmanship positions, four for the Labour Party (LP), while the Social Democratic Party (SDP), got two positions.

However, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which has two Senators, could not secure any Committee chairman. Also, the  All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), which has one Senator, got no Committee chairmanship.

Chairmen of Committees as announced by Akpabio are: Airforce, Akwashiki Godiya (SDP), Anti Corruption and Financial Crimes, Udende Emmanuel (PDP), Aviation, Buhari Abdulfatai (APC), Capital Market, Osita Izunaso (APC), Establishment and Public Services, 

Cyril Fasuyi (APC), Ecology and Climate change, Seriake Dickson (PDP).

Others Committees are: Housing and Urban Development, Aminu Tambuwal (PDP), Interior Adams Oshiomhole (APC), Downstream Petroleum, Jide Ipisagba (APC), Defence, Ahmed Lawan (APC), Public Accounts, Wadada Ahmed (PDP).

Appropriation, Solomon Adeola (APC), Finance, Musa Mohammed Sani (APC), Banking  Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Abiru Adeyokunbo (APC), Army, Abdulaziz Yaradua (APC), Cooperation and Integration NEPAD, Yau Sahabi (APC), Culture and Tourism, Ishaku Elisha (APC), Diaspora and NGO, Victor Umeh (LP).

Also, Committee on Drugs and Narcotics,  Dankwambo Ibrahim (PDP), Education Basic and Secondary, Lawan Adamu Usman (APC), Employment and Productivity, Diket Plang (PDP).

Akintunde Yunus ( Environment), Imasuen Neda (Ethics and Public Petitions), Ibrahim Bomai (FCT), Allwell Iheanacho (Federal Character and Governmental Affairs), Sani Bello (Foreign Affairs), Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (Gas), Banigo Ipalibo (Health).

Etang Williams (Petroleum Upstream), Abubakar Yari (Water Resources), Sadik Umar (Trade and Investment) and Osita Ngu (Solid Minerals).

Also listed as Chairmen of Committees are Senators Dandutse Muntari (Tertiary Education and TETFUND), Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (States and Local Government Affairs), Benson Agadaga (Oil and Gas Host Communities), Enyinnaya Abaribe (Power), Abdulhamid Maikori (Police Affairs), Aliyu Wammako (Local and Foreign Debts), Afolabi Salisu (ICT and Cyber Crime ) , Alli Sharafadeen (INEC), Francis Fadahunsi (Industries), Adamu Aliero (Land Transportation), Ohere Sadiku (Local Content), Abdul Ningi (National Identity and Population Commission) and Yahaya  Abdullahi (National Planning and Economic Affairs).
