The President General, Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), has congratulated Women in Nigeria and the Diaspora on the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD), celebration which too place on Wednesday, March 8, globally.
Ugochukwu gave his congratulatory message in a press statement released on MAJAN platform.
The MAJAN President, who is highly gender sensitive, described women as good administrators in public offices and within the families.
Speaking further, Ugochukwu urged the Nigerian government to encourage more women participation in governance and political affairs of the country.
Going further, the MAJAN President described International Women’s Day celebration as a well thought-out occasion meant to honour women for their tremendous contributions to national development.
According to him, many Nigerian women have excelled in their various careers and should be commended for their steadfastness and resilience.
He called on government to create a level playing ground for more women to thrive in entrepreneurship.
“Women are very special people in the society. They are our daughters, sisters and mothers. So, we use this special occasion to honour and rejoice with them,” he said.
