NIGERIA: Remo Stars have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s side secured their historic maiden title with a 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne yesterday, courtesy of Olamilekan Adedayo’s late strike six minutes from time.
With the victory, Remo Stars became the first privately owned club to win the NPFL since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996, reports The Nation.
It also marks the first time a southwest club has lifted the trophy since Julius Berger’s triumph 20 years ago.
Remo Stars lead the table with 68 points from 35 matches, 10 points ahead of second-placed, Rivers United.
