The NUJ Powerful Pen Media Chapel Elects New Executives, As Lagos Council Chairman, Ajayi Lauds Chapel

says The Powerful Pen stands out amongst others

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Powerful Pen Media Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), yesterday, August 27, 2024, held an election for new Executives of the Chapel.

The election, which took place at MAJAN Secretariat, Apapa, Lagos, was supervised by officials of NUJ Lagos Council, led by the Chairman, Mr Adeleye Ajayi, Tunde  Olalere and Princess Alaba.

The new officers of The Powerful Pen Media Chapel, who were elected unopposed are 

as follows. Udeme Clement, was returned as Chairman of the Chapel; Asuquo Nuwak, was also returned unopposed as the Vice Chairman of the Chapel; Mr Silas Onuoha, emerged the Secretary. Others are; Mr Frank Odinukaeze, Assistant Secretary of the Chapel;  Mrs Love Ikuku Oyedoku-Treasurer; Mr Ranmilowo Ojalumo–Internal Auditor; Okezie Success Nnadi, Financial Secretary.

The new officers were immediately sworn in by the Chairman of NUJ Lagos State Council, Mr Adeley

 Ajayi.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr Ajayi praised the Powerful Pen Chapel for keeping the Chapel going, describing it as outstanding amongst other chapels.

He noted that Powerful Pen is among  other chapels consistently paying annual dues.

He enjoined the newly elected officers to discharge their duties to the best of their ability and in line with laid down rules.

He advised the new Executives to organise a press week for the chapel. Also, Adeleye charged the chapel to ensure that its members attend Congresses, as that would be the yardstick  for members to benefit from NUJ programmes.

The President of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), the parent body of Powerful Pen Chapel, Mr Jerry Aguigbo, thanked the NUJ officials for coming to supervise the election and promised that The Powerful Pen Media Chapel would continue to uphold the highest standards and professionalism in its activities.

A minute silence was observed for the late President of MAJAN, Mr Ray Ugochukwu.

The newly elected Chairman of the chapel, Udeme Clement, in her acceptance speech thanked the NUJ on behalf of all the elected officers and promised that the new Executives are equal to the task and would ensure that the  Chapel lives up to its name, as one of the outstanding Chapels of NUJ, Lagos State Council.
