Bild: Milan And Inter Want Hummels On A Free After Dortmund Exit

Despite the denials that were recently reported regarding AC Milan moving for Mats Hummels, a source in Germany has claimed that the management are keen.

Hummels officially ended his time with Borussia Dortmund yesterday as his contract expired and rumours in recent weeks have repeatedly linked him with various clubs both in Spain and in Italy.

After being named Man of the Match on more than one occasion in the last Champions League campaign – which ended with a run to the final where he played a leading role – it seems that Hummels still wants to and can have his say in top-level football.

Despite some speculation that he was surprisingly close to joining Real Mallorca and Como, the 35-year-old might well want to keep testing himself on the big stage. Sky stated that he was offered to Milan who weren’t keen, but a source in Germany disagrees.

According to what BILD (via RadioRossonera) have reported in the last few hours, the interest from Italy is increasing and there is a distinct possibility that he makes the hop over the Alps.

The German source sees Milan and Inter in particular as the main rivals in the race and underlines how Hummels is continuing to look towards Serie A for his next club, where he would still be close to Germany.
