Lagos Trains 3,748 Youths In Creative Academies

More than 5,000 to benefit in 3 years 

The Lagos State Government says it has trained more than 3,748 youths on creative academies in the past one year and even promised to further train over 5,000 young men and women in the next three years.

Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture,

Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said this at the Ministerial  briefing at Alausa, Ikeja, while presenting the scorecard of the first year of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office.

The Commissioner said the state government is currently in a partnership with four different creative academies to enhance the capacities of young creative practitioner in Lagos State with the training of over 3,748 Lagos youths, with promise to train additional 5,000 youths in the next the three years.

“Lagos State Government is currently in a partnership with four different creative academies to enhance the capacities of young creative practitioner in Lagos State with the training of over 3,748 Lagos youths, with promise to train additional 5,000 youths in the next the three years.The academies in partnership with the State government for this training programme are: Del-York Film Academy, GIDI Creative Academy, Ebony Life Creative Academy and African Academy”, she stated.

She also said the Ministry had in the last one year embarked on hosting of cultural activities, tourists attractions, trainings among other initiatives, while collaborating with local and international organisations on Lagos Theatre Festival, talent hunt, Afropolis Lagos 2024 to promote tourism.

Benson-Awoyinka who restated the commitment to the state’s tourism master plan said it would continue to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through collaboration with the private sector for a greater Lagos.

She also urged stakeholders to collaborate with the government to build a legacy of cultural excellence that enriched lives, inspires generation and leaves an indelible mark on the world.

The Commissioner also said the Ministry is expecting to deliver the on-going construction of Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande’s statue before the end of next month, June 2024.
