The first In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), delivery has been recorded in Akure, with the delivery of a set of triplets to a couple seeking the face of God for the fruit of the womb for 14 years.
The babies, two boys and a girl, weighing 1.9kg, 2.5kg and 2.6kg respectively, were delivered at a private hospital, Classic Specialist Clinic and Fertility Centre, Akure, the state capital.
The Managing Director, Classic Specialist Clinic and Fertility Centre, Akure, Dr Momoh Rafiu, who delivered the 44 years old mother said the process of delivery took 45 minutes.
While expressing gratitude to God and his medical team, he said the three babies are in good condition.
Speaking with our correspondent, a specialist in women fertility and other related health issues revealed that the specialist clinic had three more expectant mothers, who have been through IVF, to deliver.
He beseeched couples seeking the fruit of the womb to embrace IVF.
