Primary School Librarian Remanded In Prison For Allegedly Raping Physically-Challenged Girl

SEGUN DANIEL

The Librarian and senior staff of Opebi Primary School, has been remanded in Kirikiri prison for defiling a physically-challenged girl under the school care.

The Family Magistrate Court, Ogba, Lagos State, remanded the librarian currently at the Kirikiri Prison. The Family Court said the librarian, who had been abusing the girl in his office until he was caught by another teacher, will be in prison until the DPP result is out.

The assault of the underaged has been on the rise and the state government has warned parents to report any case of assault to the Lagos State Police Command gender section for appropriate action.

African News Eye investigation carried out at the various courts in Lagos, revealed that many cases of defiling underage persons have been on the rise.

The State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Alabi Abiodun, has charged all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to monitor their jurisdictions and ensure culprits are brought to book.

Last year, it was reported that a cleric was accused of raping underage girls in his church. The said cleric tried to bribe one of the Divisional Police Officers to close the case but the officer refused the N500, 000 offer and referred the case to the police headquarters for onward investigation.
